To International Publishers and Buyers

In recent years, as the international profile of games originating in Japan has risen, we've seen an increase in participation at Game Market from international publishers eager to release titles globally, and from "Overseas buyers" who acquire games to introduce to publishers.

Game Market is quite unique globally; it began as a gathering place for individuals, not established board game publishers, to present their creations. Our core philosophy is to create an event primarily for these individual, non-commercial exhibitors. We've heard from these exhibitors that they often feel uneasy interacting with overseas buyers due to a lack of background information regarding their affiliations or track records. For those with limited commercial experience, a sudden discussion about a contract can be quite daunting. This plan was established to ensure these exhibitors can also enjoy the event with peace of mind.

Overseas buyers are crucial partners who help spread exhibitors' works, and indeed, Japanese games, to the global market. Making information visible through catalog listings and venue panels facilitates these vital conversations, especially with our unique exhibitor base. Furthermore, the strong participation of numerous international companies helps us promote Game Market's increasingly global nature, both domestically and internationally.

That's why we created the International Business Plan. This system aims to enhance the recognition and presence of overseas buyers in Japan, while also supporting smoother and more effective licensing discussions between them and Japanese game designers. This upcoming event marks the third time this system has been implemented.

In previous events, participating international buyers shared their company information and achievements through the catalog and venue panels, fostering valuable connections. We also held a joint business meeting with "YAPON BRAND," successfully bridging many exhibitors with international companies. For Game Market 2026 Spring, we will continue this system and strive for further improvements by reflecting feedback from past participants. To better support exhibitors, we also plan to set up a dedicated corner at the venue to provide guidance on how to engage in effective discussions with international buyers.
